Oh she definitely didn't take it well, there just wasn't anything more for them to do and she's a practical young woman-turned-giant-beast :)
It took her months to accept the change, and she definitely didn't approve of everything Ashton did with her old body. It was quite the adjustment to become her own body's deathclaw companion.
Interestingly, the Fallout wiki says that sufficiently intelligent Deathclaws can mimic human voices. I wonder if Veronica ever learned to speak in her Deathclaw body. It'd make the experience of being a beast like that more bearable, at least.
What, being able to crush your enemies with your bare hands (or claws) isn't enough? xD
Yeah, some smart deathclaws can speak. It would probably be very difficult to learn to speak again with a completely new method, the game said they speak more like birds than mammals. At least her grandfather knows who she is :)
I always worry for the mental health of people who are turned into animals in these stories. The harder it is for you to use language, the harder it is to have a healthy social life, and thus a healthy life in general. I mean, if one of my friends was turned into a dog or something, one of the first things I'd do is get them a giant computer keyboard with keys the size of dog paws (or get one custom-made, or make a virtual one as a program for a tablet computer). That way, at least they could communicate via text. I know thinking about it this way isn't the appeal of human-to-animal stories, but if a human-turned-animal keeps their sapience, then they're not so much an animal as they are a person with profound physical disabilities.
How thoughtful! I think her grandfather will do his best to be her companion. Maybe she'll be able to find some other intelligent deathclaws - in the game they set up their own society.
Hey! I loved this series, hope to see the side of the new deathclaw and maybe another swap raygun?
ReplyDeleteThis one and "true animal lover" are by far my favorite of your captions
Thanks! I doubt they'll be able to find another swap raygun. I doubt the same people could get so lucky or unlucky :P
DeleteVeronica took it better than I expected.

DeleteI wonder if the bonus will be about the raider and the ghoul.
ReplyDeleteNope! Good guess though (ghouls don't take the best pictures :P )
DeleteWow, what a crazy and well-told story! This was awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's nice to see a TG series set in Fallout. I played Fallout 3 a lot back in the day :)
Thanks for the kind praise! I'm really happy with how it turned out, the Fallout setting is great :)
