Mmh you said previously that you disliked identity death so I assume it won't be additional "mind merge". The first one says the duration is 3 days and they started merging as soon as they touched each other... Maybe she misread and it's not the duration for it to end but the duration during which they will absorb and merge with anyone they touch.
